Rat Trap for Simple, Effective Home Control
A rat trap is one of the easiest and most effective ways to deal with rats in the home. The Black Cat Rat Trap is designed for everyday users who want a reliable solution without complicated setup. It provides quick results, helping you deal with unwanted pests safely and humanely.
Whether you’ve spotted rats in the kitchen, garage, shed, or loft, this trap offers a practical way to regain control and protect your living space..
Why Choose the Black Cat Rat Trap?
The Black Cat Rat Trap uses a strong break-back mechanism that delivers a fast and humane kill. This helps reduce stress for the user while ensuring effective pest control. Made from tough plastic and galvanised steel, it’s built to last and can be reused multiple times, making it a cost-effective option for households.
It’s also easy to set, even if you’ve never used a rat trap before.
Installation Instructions:
- Identify active rodent areas like attics, under floorboards, or near nesting materials. Avoid open areas unless using a protective device.
- Place bait, such as apple or oats for rats, on the food hook and inner cup. Ensure the bait doesn’t touch the trap body to avoid interference with the food hook motion.
- Check the hammer lock is forward. Pull the hammer bar back and lock it into place, ensuring fingers are clear of the kill zone.
- Hold the trap by the rear tower and place it in the identified area, a couple of feet away from nesting holes or activity.
- Scatter a small amount of bait near the trap to draw rodents closer.
- Check twice daily and remove any catches promptly to prevent trap shyness.
- To unset, press the trigger at the rear. Lubricate the mechanism regularly for smooth operation.
Tips for Success:
- Remove competing food sources before placement.
- For pre-baiting, scatter bait directly on the floor for a few days to familiarise rodents with the food, then introduce the unset trap before activating.
- Traps may be ignored initially (neophobia). Leave traps in place to allow rodents to adjust over time.
Safety Note:
Keep traps away from children and non-target animals. Use a protective cage outdoors to limit access.
