The gull grid parallel wire system provides an alternative to installing a netting system to protect a roof area from seagulls.
The system consists of a series of parallel wires which are supported above the roof to prevent seagulls from being able to land and take off easily.
The system uses the same mounts and perimeter straining wire / fixings as for a bird control net installation, but then a series of parallel wires are attached using 1.2mm Orange Wire Rope
The orange PVC coating provides extra visibility to gulls and increases the overall diameter of the wire to 1.5mm
Our Seagull Netting Fixing Kits are ideal for installing the perimeter wire for the Gull Grid Parallel Wire System
Gull Grid Parallel Wire is typically installed at a lower height than Seagull Netting, reducing the visual impact of the system and allowing maintenance staff to walk over or in-between the wires
Installation Tips:
- Run parallel wires across the roof at 400mm centres and secure to perimeter wire rope with 2.5mm Copper Ferrules.
- During perimeter wire rope installation slide enough Ferrules on to the perimeter straining wire before terminating and tensioning. However if you run short of ferrules then use Wire Rope Grips.
- The Parallel wires do not need to be tensioned and should ideally sag slightly to move in the wind for extra deterrence.
Uses:
- Flat Roofs
- Overhead on outdoor eating areas
- Industrial shallow pitched roofs
