These audible bird scarers exploit a pest bird’s in-built reaction to hearing its own species-specific distress call, causing it to flee the hostile environment beyond the audible range of the distress call.
PestFix offers a comprehensive range of distress call systems that will cover any requirement, both outdoor and indoor that can be used as a stand-alone deterrent or as part of an overall programme of bird control.
In the simplest of terms a bio-acoustic bird scarer is a digital recording of a distressed pest bird that replays at random intervals. It is designed to be heard by the bird and create a sense of danger, alarm and perceived threat to the pest bird, so that it flees the immediate vicinity of the threat, to a safe distance.
This will either be the audible boundary of the distress call, beyond which point it can no longer hear the call and hence will no longer feel threatened; or a high vantage point significantly above the source of the distress call, where it will feel safe, and from where it can keep a sharp look out for the predator.
Different species of birds each have their own species-specific distress call. This distress call is the bird’s equivalent to “HELP”, “WATCH OUT” or ”S.O.S.” It is the very urgent sounding distress-call that forms the basis of bio-acoustic distress call bird scaring. Just as a rabbit thumps its feet, a cat hisses, or a dog snarls when they sense danger; a bird will put out a distress call to its fellow flock members to serve as both a warning to flee the danger area and, for certain species, as a cry for help.
