Stay One Step Ahead This Wasp Season. Here’s How
Monday 12/05/2025
Wasp season is on its way, and whether you’re a pest control professional or a homeowner handling it yourself, it pays to be prepared. From buzzing lofts to busy pub gardens, fast action means safer spaces and fewer stings.
For the Trade: Be Job-Ready When the Calls Come In
Wasp callouts spike between late spring and early autumn. The key is speed, confidence, and having the right products to hand:
- Pesticide Dusts - Ideal for treating hidden or hard-to-reach wasp nests, especially in wall voids, lofts, or soffits. Examples include: PyDust, Vulcan P5, and Quartz.
- Liquid Insecticides - Used for direct nest treatment when access allows, offering a powerful knockdown effect on contact. Example: Perbio Choc.
- Aerosols - Great for fast treatment of smaller or more accessible nests, with jet sprays for safe distance application. Examples include: Digrain, Insecto, and Rentokil.
- Dust Applicators - Deliver dust precisely into nest entrances or high-up voids without getting too close. Options include: SOLO 3L Spray Duster and Birchmeier DR5 Professional Hand Pump Powder Duster (extensions available), or the standalone Dustick.
- PPE - Essential for working around active nests safely and professionally. Includes: Bee Suit, Bee Veil, and Bee Gauntlets.

For DIYers: Take Control Before It Gets Out of Hand
If you’ve seen wasps buzzing around your loft, garden shed, or roofline, don’t wait. Early treatment makes nests easier (and safer) to remove. Here’s what works best at home:
- Use a wasp nest killer spray for visible nests or flight paths.
- Use a dust pesticide for hidden or high-up nests.
- Always wear gloves and long sleeves.
- Only treat at dawn or dusk, when wasps are less active.
- Never block the nest entrance until it’s fully inactive.
Prevention Is Better Than Cure:
Want to stop wasps before they settle? Use wasp traps & lures around gardens, bins, and outdoor areas to lure and trap them early:
- WaspBane (standalone trap, replace chamber yearly).
- Wasp Dome.
- Wasp Trap.
- Trappit Wasp Bag.
- Organ-X Wasp Trap.
All of the above require a wasp lure
